Some fun new outfits...and a mom's day gift too!

I haven't been busy sewing much lately, which makes me very sad but it's been BUSY.  This is my catch up posting.  When I have had time, these are my recent creations.  Enjoy and let me know what you think!

An original "R" design for my "mom" across the street!  I used a scarf and cut it into about 1/4 inch strips and just started making flowers...pinning along the way.  Then sewed to attach it.  Not sure how it will wash but it looks good for now!

Up close and personal...sorry for the side picture.  Forgot to rotate prior to upload...hey, it's been a long weekend.

My mom sent me some money for Mom's Day, so I went shopping.  But because I don't often have "fun" money I was careful to to find the best bargains.  I found this super cute tee at Walmart for $4.  However, it needed a face lift.

So I went to JoAnns and found this cute lace for $1.

I pinned and sewed...

And this is what it looks like on...thanks to my hubby for helping with the pictures but they aren't the best close ups.  Sorry!!!

ANOTHER UPGRADE...

This was on sale for $1 at Walmart as well.  I bought two, one to cut up and one to make this!  How cute did this turn out.    I had a picture with it on but again, the hubby isn't so great with the camera.  Sorry, he does try!

Needed a new look for the weekend...
Cut the sweater sleeve and a t-shirt redo. So fun and bright!

And just the shirt by itself...

Keith wanted in on the fun...

This is how I did it...
Again, for $4 a great find at Walmart.  It's the OP brand and they are soooo comfortable.

Plain t-shirt, but with a pocket. I took the pocket off with a seem ripper.

Found this lace for $2 at JoAnns, and I have tons left over so can't wait for the next project.  I attached it just like I did with black lace of the earlier project.  Fun, huh???

So you have a shirt that needs a redo or a pick-me-up...email me!  I love to create.

My almost Easter dress

So as it always seems to go in my household, my stuff got left until last.  That means after Keith's outfit was done, Easter party done, and making food for Easter lunch was done.  You get my point.  Furthermore, it's important to note that I have taught myself to sew.  My mom has given some pointers here and there but I am awful with patterns.  With that said, a while back I found this awesome pattern at Hobby Lobby for $1!!! It was a super cute strapless sundress and I had the perfect material for it.

I get into making the dress and yeah, finished...BUT it doesn't fit.  You see, I have much larger chest than I do waist so I obviously did not measure correctly.  OOOOOPS...so too big all the way around.  Oh and I must say, I am no good at zippers but hey, it was my first attempt at it ever.  Another important note, I tend to rush projects like this because I never allow enough time.  Yes, I know it's my own fault.  I know, I know, I know.

So because I hated the dress, I found a cute one at TJMaxx for $20(will post later because it's an inspiration for another project).  And yes, I had to have an Easter dress. Doesn't everyone get a new dress for the holiday?  Anyway, I wasn't about to give up on the original dress.  What I did instead was make my own pattern from the top of another dress that I love.  I literally cut the skirt off the ooops dress and used it for the bottom.  Here is what I came up with:

Now I agree with my hubby that it's a LOT of yellow so I added this sash from my grandmother's collection of scarfs she shared with me.  And I think it's an improvement...what do you think?

Cardigan Upcyle

I have been slacking on my posts.  I have been slow in the crafting area too with all the parties we have had lately.  The first photo I will share is a sweater/cardigan upcyle!  I love this cardigan but alway felt it was more spring and summery in color.  I also love the three-quarter length sweaters...so I made what I really wanted.

Made a flower from the sleeve I cut off and added a pearl button center to match the buttons already on the cardigan.

Used the same cuff just moved it up!  It's gathered because the arms were tapered but it makes it blousy .  Love it!

Let's Hear it for the Boys Contest

Cheri at http://iammommahearmeroar.blogspot.com/ hosted a cute contest calling all of us crafters with little boys to create away.  Here is the creation I submitted.  I wanted something that would fit the contest rules but also make a perfect outfit for Keith's birthday.  Enjoy!

Birthday Ties and Ties

Keith's friend was having a birthday and he is a HUGE Superman fan.  Here is what I came up with:

Tennessee Outfit

A good friend is a graduate of UT and for her step-daughter she desperately wanted a cute UT outfit.  So for her birthday, a mutual friend asked me to make the outfit.  Here is the cutie petutie!

Haley's Birthday Shirt & Headband

For my friend's birthday, I made her a cute shirt that she could wear to school and out for fun.  Plus she is the perfect person for headbands...in fact, I don't know anyone who wears them better (jealous, oh yeah, and I can admit it!).  Unfortunately I am not very good at taking pictures as I go along so there is no tutorial with this one.  However, I plan to make another one soon and I PROMISE pictures.  Until then, enjoy the pictures of this completed project.

Welcome to Keith's Closet

Welcome and thanks for stopping by!  Keith's Kloset is a collection of crafts, sewing projects, recipes, and other things I do during my little man's nap time.  Much like me family blog, I will post as often as I can but no promises.  My goal is to share my creations with you but also update you on my Etsy shop (the one I hope to create in the next few weeks).  Keith's Kloset is not just for boys, just named after my little man!

Again, thanks for stopping by and I hope you will visit often.
